As we have previously reported, President Ismail Omar Guelleh of the tiny nation of Djibouti is now haphazardly trying to prevent the rapid collapse Somaliland has descended into, and as such, in the past three days his special inhouse guest at his seaside Presidential Palace was none other than Abdikarim Hussein Guled, President Hassan Sheikh Mohmoud’s special envoy to Somaliland, with a plan to implement THE MASTERPLAN President Hassan Sheikh’s long sought after political ambition.
On one hand, Mr. Guelleh’s Masterplan calls for to save the declining political fortunes of President Muse Bihi and rescue Somaliland from imminent collapse, and on the other to foil Somalia’s federal system of governance.
Before Somaliland’s imminent demise, President Guelleh’s Masterplan calls for the confederation of Somalia-Somaliland (a/k/a the North-South confederation) and the gutting of Somalia’s federal member states (FMS), where he intends, with the tacit blessing of President Ahmed Madobe, to kill off SSC-KHATUMO ambitions, and indeed Puntland and Jubaland as FMS in one fell swoop.
While legal experts and politicians alike deem the Masterplan unconstitutional, legal experts we have reached out explained to Daljir that President Guelleh, in Somalia’s muddy political affairs, isn’t interested in success or failure, but rather to sow the seeds of political confusion; hence, prolong the political chaos he bred as long as possible.
