Somalia’s state house (Villa Somalia) continues to be married in controversary and political uproar.
The resignation of Hussein Sheikh Mohamud, the General Director of Villa Somalia has caught many by surprise with the abrupt resignation.
The reasons behind Hussein’s resignation is unclear, sparking suspicion that the leadership in Villa Somalia is at odds with one another and that Villa Somalia might be unraveling from within.
Hussein Sheikh Mohamud was a close ally of president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and a member of the ruling UDP party, which can be attributed to why Hussein was appointed the director of Villa Somalia.
If still an ally of President Hassan, Hussein is also rumored to be seeking the presidency of South West State.
His resignation comes at a time as Villa Somalia is facing growing accusations of clan fragmentation, nepotism, corruption and political-clanism from throughout the Somali society.
