Troops loyal to the separatist administration of Somaliland in northern Somalia launched a ground assault targeting the Oodagooye locality as part of their latest futile attempts to crush the resistance in the SSC regions.

Reports reaching the Daljir Media service desk reveal that at 10:00 am on Tuesday morning, secessionist troops launched a brazen attack on Oodagooye, which led to clashes leading into the night.

It was the most fierce fighting to plague the region, aside from the liberation of Laascaanood, as SSC civil defense forces seize new territory after repelling repeated advances by Somaliland troops.

After capturing Oodagooye area, SSC civil defense forces set up positions in east, south and west of Maraaga area, a strategic location Somaliland set up to defend their Goojacadde military base, Somaliland’s main military base in Sool region.

In response to sustaining heavy losses in todays clashes, Somaliland troops indiscriminately shelled the city of Laascaanood at will. As a result, scores of civilians were hospitalized due to injuries they received from the mortar attack.

The war in Sool is entering its 8th month after Somaliland troops were expelled from Laascaanood in late December of last year following a popular civilian uprising, which ended Somaliland’s brutal occupation of the city.
