A Somali national identified as Mohamed Deeq Madar was shot dead inside his shop in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Armed assailants entered the store, which was soon followed by gunshots which killed the victim instantly.

The culprits escaped the scene soon after the killing. The police arrived shortly later but no arrests have been made.

Dozens of Somalis, mainly shop owners have been killed over the years in South Africa with motives ranging from robberies, xenophobia and business rivalries.

The Somali embassy in South Africa is yet to address the deaths of numerous Somali nationals in South Africa over the years.
