Five children were killed and sixth one wounded after a clan militias shot dead a group of children while they slept near a Madrassa in the village of Qorof, situated near the town of Galladi in the Somali region under Ethiopian rule.

The children were returning from a wedding at a rural encampment when they then decided to sleep overnight near a Madrassa in the village of Qorof.  That is when the group of boys where approached by armed militiamen and shot dead while still sleeping.

The deceased children were all brought back to Dhabbad in Galgaduud for burial services.

These latest rash of indiscriminate killings have shocked Somalis from all strides of life and sparked fierce condemnation due to brutality unleashed on the under-aged minors.

The border areas around Galdaduud, Gallaadi and Kaxandhaale between the Somali region and Somalia proper has witnessed an uptick in violence and revenge killings between rival clan militias in recent years.

Additional details are now coming out of the 5 children killed in Qurac by armed clan militia. It has now been confirmed that the killers crossed from Adaado of Galmudug. All 5 children were about an hour ago buried in Dhabbad near Abudwaaq, Galgaduud region. All 5 children are being reported to hail from Saaxo, Puntland. The oldest of the 5 children is said to be 13 years of age and the youngest 7 years old.
