For a community that in Somalia’s struggle for liberation suffered the worst massacres under the British colonial war against the Dervish Movement of Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan, where the British are estimated to have massacred over 65% of the male population of Sool and Ayn, yesterday was a jubilant day, a memorable day, a day that will forever be memorialized as the day the people of SSC finally overcame the defeat they have suffered and lately have been suffering under British colonial rule, a day the people of SSC are finally under the cool and ecstatic shade of their own administration.

What is also memorable is that 100 years later since Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan’s victory over Richard Corfield and the British Camel Corps on 9 Aug 1913, on the plains and fields of Sool, SSC has in the same fields once again defeated the British supported clans and prevented another British colonial rule on 25 Aug 2023.

Now the losers: Yesterday, 23 December 2023, SSC-KHATUMO has once again dealt with the British their worst loss they had suffered in Somalia since the days of Richard Corfield’s British Camel Corps by fully standing on their own, and finally, for good, derailing the colonial Britain long sought after project of dividing Somalia into two colonies.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud and Ismail Omar Guelleh are also losers as SSC traditional leaders, albeit much disagreement and sleepless nights, finally, with unanimity, have done away with their 17 MPs in Puntland Parliament that President Hassan Sheikh was convinced they were all his, all in his pocket, and that defeating his nemesis, President Said Deni of Puntland, was all but assured.

And finally, SSC representatives in the Federal Government of Somalia parliament, and who have close relations with President Hassan Sheikh and led by Senator Timacadde along his team of Villa Somalia controlled SSC MPs in Mogadishu, are also the sorest of losers, as today they are without base and without constituency.

And the winners, besides SSC, are Puntland and the people of Puntland who wanted to see, feel, and experience an SSC, a united SSC, an SSC that stands on its own and with its own administration, and an SSC that finally derails and defeats the renewal of British colonial rule in Somalia.
