A blast from a roadside bomb struck a military vehicle (Cabdi-Bile) in the Suuaq Xoolaha neighborhood in Mogadishu’s volatile Huriwaa district in the north of the city.

According to local residents, the military vehicle carrying government forces was on routine patrol when it stuck an IED hidden on the road. The subsequent blast damaged the vehicle.

This latest bomb attack comes a few hours after a similar attack in the Dayniile district in Mogadishu targeted the government forces, with the armed group Al-Shabaab claiming responsibility.

Northern Mogadishu, which consists of the districts of Huriwaa, Yaqshid, Dayniile, Kaxda and Kaaraan has been a hot bed for militancy and crime, which consecutive Somali governments have struggled to subdue through out the years.
