A regional official from the Municipality in Jowhar was killed following an IED attack at the city market on Saturday.
Dahir Mohamed, who is the district at hand was instantly killed when the bomb blast from the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) ripped through the market. Several of his guards were wounded in the attack.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the militant group Al-Shabaab routinely carries out a similar style of bombings and attacks across Southern Somalia, including Jowhar.
The Middle Shabelle region has been racked by a perpetual state of violence in recent weeks as warring clans battle it out in the settlements near Cadale and Raaga Ceele, followed by today’s bombing in Jowhar that killed a local government official.
