As Somaliland Security forces that were based in Borama city, Awdal region, get transferred to fight the war in Laascaanood, it created a security vacuum with very little police presence, where the youth are taking advantage and rejecting Somaliland secession.
In various youth gatherings and online postings, the youth of Awdal are demanding self-determination and freedom from Somaliland repression and suppression.
To try to quell the unrest, Vice President Saylici is sent to Borama and is said to be holding various group meetings with community elders and business leaders.
Watch this space for further developments of the situation in Awdal region, as people reject secession and demand the establishment of Awdal State of Somalia, a federal member state.
