32 Years old Somaliland on deathbed and what an end to an era!

There is a Somali proverb that says ‘War dhafoor buu ku yaal,’ which roughly translates to ‘All news shines on one’s forehead.’ With bad to worse news from the front shining all over Somaliland, this will be one short and early obituary, as Somaliland’s 32 years of lies and deceit comes to an abrupt end.

Somaliland was built on hate, hate for any Somali who didn’t accept their version of reality. It was built on hate for Somalia and its sky-blue flag with the white star. The black star on Somaliland flag was an expression of hate that contrasted the white Somali star, a hope that represents Somali unity and territories. Similarly, Somaliland politicians were never shy to publicly express hate for other Somalis and deep love for Ethiopia. Since hate has no borders, they also hated anyone of their own who didn’t worship their legalized lies and didn’t believe the deceit.

There was so much hate, lies and deceit within the house, Somaliland built a house of cards for all the haters. And the haters were all in the house. The house eventually believing its own lies and deceit started, in delusional state, to forcefully enforce the lies. It conquered Awdal and the Samroon clan and suppressed anyone who dared question the deceit. It conquered Sool and subjugated anyone who dare stand up to the lies and the hate. It tried to conquer Sanaag but failed. And it continuously threatened to destroy Garoowe, and own what the British couldn’t.

Failure and arrogance finally caught up with the hate-filled house held up by pillars of deceit and lies. 32 Years old Somaliland, pompous, overbearing and delusional, began to enforce the lies and the hate with daylight assassinations and wanton vandalism to those who rejected the lies.

While every Somali casually and easily laughed at the delusion of Somaliland, while western political brokers got rich from fake recognition advocacy, no Somali ever stood toe-to-toe to the house of cards. Until, that is, SSC-Khatumo showed up and said ‘NO’ to hate, said ‘NO’ to lies. And that is all it took. The rest is for the history books.

Today Somaliland is on its deathbed. It is ailing and is in severe economic condition. Its 2023 budget is tossed out along with the deceit. Its military also built on deceit and lies is defeated by SSC-Khatumo civil defense forces. Their strongest forces in Goojacadde military base are encircled in their fortified positions with very little supplies and fuel remaining. And all roads to Burco are blocked by SSC-KHATUMO forces. Death and debilitation unkindly stare Goojacadde on the forehead.

Last but not least, with was so much hate and deceit brewing within Somaliland, the house, from within, is now erupting with violence and hate not seen since the 1991 ‘Calan Cas’ heydays. With Sool and Sanaag free from their 32 years of nightmare, it is Garxajis vs. Habar Awal’s ‘Calan Cas’ clan associates. It is 1991 all over again.

Finally, the biggest deceit in Somali history upheld by lies, chicanery and hate meets the truth; and the deceit brewers meet each other one more time. And they all meet on their deathbed!
