DHUSAMAREEB (HOL) – Galmudug State has today concluded the election of senators marking the end of Senate elections which started in late July.

Senator Abdi Awale Qaybdiid retained his seat beating his contended Awil Nur Ali.
In the second seat, Abdi Osman Hareed beat Mahad Aden Guled to emerge winner.

The election of the two senators now fills ups the composition of the Senate.

The 54 member chamber will be sitting jointly with the 275 members of the Lower House to elect a new president.

Only two MPs have been elected. The process is expected to commence ‘soon’ according to the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET).
